Sept 5th- Happy Labor Day...The beach emptied out by 4 pm...Fall has arrived. First news of the bass bite came from BL. A 32" linesider was caught by one of the locals on clam.
The fish was landed just before dark on Saturday. The water dropped a few degrees with the persistant south wind so there may be more to follow. Clam on the incoming tide.
There were a couple of kingfish in the surf but, not consistant. Fluke continue to dominate the action with bluefish, mackeral and smelt producing the best results. All of the
regulars had fish with only a couple of keepers. The small bluefish continue to tear up the baits so be ready for them. Snappers are all over the bay so get the kids and hit your
favorite bulkhead or dock and catch em up. Small sea bass are still in the rocks and sea walls in both the bay and the ocean. Stop by and see us. We can give you up to the minute
reports for fishermen from fishermen. Bob
Sept 11th- It was ten years ago that our lives were changed by the tradgedy we know as 9/11. That single event changed the course of a country and a people. Let's reflect for a
minute today and cherish our freedoms. The experiment we call democracy and elected government will survive. That being said we must take time to remember all who have lost loved
ones on 9/11 and those who were lost in the wars that followed. It is hard for me to report the fishing results when so much which is dear is no longer the same. Let's talk stripers.
Teddy and Greg had their wet suits on and braved the swells on the big jetty for a couple of short bass on yellow plugs. Chunks of fresh bunker caught two 32" fish in the BL suds. Clams worked in
Surf City for a 29" fish. Bruce took a party to the Ship Bottom beach and caught 2 dozen snapper blues. The were using the smaller ones to land several fluke. "Moonphase" Bob grabbed
a keeper fluke in the BL pocket on bluefish strips. There were several other keepers from the same pocket. The Barnegat Light Heavers announced their club tournament will be held
in Loveladies on October 1st. The tournament is open to all anglers who wish to participate. Advance sign up will be available at Surf City Bait & Tackle starting 9/17. Pre tournament meeting
for all anglers will at Surf City Bait and Tackle from 6:00-6:45 am on 10/1. First cast
will be at 7:00 am and will end at 11:00 am. Awards will be presented after the event at the bait shop. Sign up is $20.00 per person and a $5.00 calcutta is offered for the largest single fish.
I hope all of you will join us for this annual event. See you on the beach. Bob
Sept 18th- This weekend was a winner for all the fishing friends in BL...Saturday
saw a 25 lb black drum on clams...That was backed up by a 20 lb black drum on Sunday...
both were caught early morning at low tide...The bluefish also provide fast action...
Snapper blues have been in the surf all day...Just cast into the surf zone and they are
right there...and so are the keeper fluke...the fish have been plentiful and getting larger...
Joe walked off the beach with a nice fish...The Northeast wind is bearing down on the island
and making it difficult to fish...Keep on trying and give us your report...Bob
Sept-23rd-
First day of fall. Where oh where has summer gone? Blink of an eye, and it's a new foggy wet season.
Even though I hate the idea of summer leaving us, there are things to be optimistic about that comes with fall. For starters, the Long Beach Island Fishing Derby-
This island classic begins October 8th, but registerations have already begun. Stop by to sign up.
Also, we have our store tournament, the Heaver's Fishing Tournament October 1st. All tournaments
can be signed up for at our store. Also. the LBI Fishing Club tournament is tomorrow Saturday the 24th. Look for our banner. I did give it to you, didn't I George? And George, you never
know, one day I may come knocking with what you said I should share, lol! And Greg O---I was here Friday (and still am, obviously) but you came too early. And yawn, I will be arriving tomorrow before
5am. U a betting man????!!!! I wish all of the participants in tomorrow's tournament the best of luck. I would like reports & pics please! Send me pics to my email & then I will forward them to SCBT Facebook account & our website
once I get the antiquated thing pic section working to my liking. Many of you already picked up your bait orders, but for those who didn't
fyi- we have freshest of fresh bunker, clams in the shell, blood worms, fresh mullet, green crabs, and all varieties of frozen bait. We have basically everything, BUT long-sleeve t-shirts.
So sorry Greg, but the order was delayed due to amounts that had to be ordered. I know I promised. If I have to sew one for you myself
I will to get you that promised fall attire!!!!! I'm outta here since 4am will be here way too soon, and I omg- if i oversleep, i will never ever live it down.
Looking forward to a restful sleep, fishing reports, sunny skies, and a ride on a Harley-any offers?!
See you in a few hours. Sigh ~Sue~
Sept 25th- Kudos to the members of the LBIFC and their successful tournament. The fishing was fast and furious and the weighmasters were everywhere. The meal afterwards was first class. They
really know how to put on a party. The fishing has been kingfish, bluefish and fluke. Bruce has been eating kingfish all weekend from his beach fishing in the Ship Bottom/Surf City suds. I fished
with Moonphase Bob and had several fluke & blues. I also had a 22" bass on a bluefish strip. Spunky fish on light tackle. Several of the LBIFC regulars had short bass along the
front beach this morning. Try diamond jig along the bottom with real slow action. The beach has not been beat up so spend some time driving the beach to find your next hot spot.
See you on the front beach. Bob
