Beach Permits for 4-wheel drives
Each municipality on Long Beach Island requires a permit for
operating a 4-wheel drive vehicle on the towns beaches , and then only at certain times of the year , never during the summer.
Permits
are purchased at the police station in the town where
you want to drive on the beach. You must present a valid
drivers license, registration and insurance card. Please
call the municipality for additional info about requirements
and methods of paying/change in prices.
Barnegat Light- No vehicles permitted
Harvey Cedars- (494-3036)- $50, Street entrances are at 83rd,Middlesex, Bergen, & Essex.
Surf City- (494-8121)-$25 Starting the 19th of Sept. Beach entrances are, 5th & 18th streets.
Ship Bottom- (494-1518)- $25.Street entrances will be given out when you purchase your permit?
Long Beach Township (361-1000 ex.203) The permit fee is $50. Permits are issued 24hr a day, 7 days a week, however cash and out-of-town checks are not accepted after 4pm, week-ends ,or holidays.
A special 6 week permit for the Long Beach Surf Fishing
Tournament , which takes place in the Fall, is $25 (call 609-494-7211 for info on the Tournament) you must have your copy of your application to the Tournament to receive this permit.

Brant Beach- 31st, 42nd,and 66thst
Beach Haven Crest-79th and 106th st
Spray Beach-15th and 34th st
Holgate-Nelson, Scott,& Washington Aves and Centre St
Beach Haven- 492-0505- $25. Beach entrances are- Talor,Nelson, and Holyoke Aves and Centre St
Holgate: Within Holgate no vehicles or pedestrians are
allowed on or near the dunes/grassy area at any time.When
driving in Holgate the 15 mile law applies as it would on any
road.Stay on the hard sand ,do not go behind signs or fences.
If impassable, wait out the tide. Remember we are working to
keep Holgate open to 4-wheel drives and fishermen.Thanks

(2)A Tow Line
(3)A Shovel
(4)a wooden plank
Should Do's:
(1)Air Down to around 15 pounds of air , Surf City bait&Tackle have "Free Air" outside the Shop
(2)Go Slow , not
faster then 15 MPH
(3)Stay off the Dunes
(4)The Driver with
the Dunes to his left, has the right-of-way
(5)If you do get
stuck,
(a)DO NOT SPIN YOUR WHEELS
(b) Please fill-in any
holes you made
(6)Beware of any holes/castles etc left by others
(7)Check out the Beach entry ways before driving on
(8)Clean up any trash
